Shaitan (2014) is a 2014 Indian Hindi-language horror film written and directed by Navaneeth K. Shanmugam and produced by Aneesh Daniel. It stars Rahul Bose, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Gauahar Khan and Mohit Raina in lead roles with Pankaj Sharma featuring in a crucial role. The film follows the story of Kabir Ahmed (Rahul Bose), his wife Leena (Gauahar Khan) and their two children who move into their new house, where they soon start to experience paranormal activity which leads them to believe that there is something evil dwelling within the walls of their home. Released on 23 February 2014, the film was distributed by PVR Pictures throughout India. The film was remade in Tamil as "Pizza". It was also remade in Bengali as "Anya Jibon". It released on 28 June 2015. Kabir (Rahul Bose), his wife Leena (Gauahar Khan) and their two children Meera (Roshni Sahota) and Ansh go to a hill station to celebrate Leena's birthday. While enjoying a stroll, they come across a house that is up for rent. The house is located at a hilltop, where its pitch-black rooms and creaking floorboards have attracted the attention of the family. In an attempt to enjoy a peaceful vacation, they take up the offer and move into the house. The family soon begin experiencing paranormal activity which leads them to believe that there is evil lurking within their home.Shaitan received mixed reviews from critics, with a critic from "Minerva" writing: "As a viewer, I felt slightly cheated at how quickly this film progressed from a ghost story to a slasher flick until it veered off once again towards the end". Olly Richards from "The Times of India" gave it 2/5 stars and stated that this film "... in an attempt to up the ante, ends up becoming a long-form music video for some great songs from the 1970s and 1980s". "Shaitan" grossed approximately . It was declared as a "semi-hit". The film grossed in first week of its release. It was a below average grosser at Box Office India on first weekend.
